Feb 2013
It’s been a good three weeks since the last
time we had our chapter meeting. Our SAA, Chiew
Ping, started tonight’s meeting with the ice-breaker theme about our
preparations for Chinese New Year. After which, we continued with the
heavy-loaded program for the night. There were 4 prepared speeches; a Lou Hei
segment to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year; and also the Language Evaluation
by our very own Area Governor, Carolyn.
So let’s take it from the top as we go through
tonight’s chapter meeting.
Tonight
was a night with a few firsts.
Sanjay, a new member, was the Toastmaster of the Day for
the very first time. He delivered his lines with clarity and it was definitely
a fantastic opportunity for him to address an audience.
And then, there was Chun Kwang, who presented Project 1 and embarked on his
Toastmasters journey. He gave his speech without any notes and referred to his
cue cards only from time to time. Remarkable for a first time effort. Good job,
Chun Kwang!
There was also Vincent, from Whampoa Toastmasters Club, who presented Project 4. The
emphasis of this project was to select the right words for the speech, but
Vincent more than entertained us with his appropriate use of body gestures as
well.
During the break, all of us had happy bellies!
There was the Lou Hei session, followed by food brought by Chiew Ping. All of us had a good time as we mingled over good food.
After the break, we had the Table Topics
session followed by evaluation for the prepared speeches as well as the
important points to note by the Language Evaluator, Carolyn.
All in all, it was a delightful evening and we
look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on 19 February 2013!
