01 August 2017 (Tuesday) - Braddell Heights TMC I Chapter Meeting

We had four lovely three speakers last Tuesday - Andy, Dominic, Wai Kay as well as Peter Lee, CC.

The first speaker, Andy, shared about his negative obsession with jogging and the effects of too much exercise.
Dominic spoke and gave us a short rant about a series of unfortunate events that happened to him last Saturday but after attending another Toastmasters Meeting, the lively and energetic atmosphere left him relived and charged.
Towards a more light-hearted topic, Wai Kay, through the usage of visual aids, brought us onto an amazing journey through different tourist attractions!
Last, but not least, Peter Lee, CC, gave us a hilarious and humorous speech which left us with smiles on our faces!
Following the prepared speeches, we had a short refreshment break and an evaluation session afterwards by the evaluators - Christina; Huiling; Jordan Li, as well as our President, Vincent where they gave wonderful insights to our brilliant speakers.

A short table topics session was held where we discussed on various topics. The table topics master that day was Jordan Li.


Specially for Braddell Heights I, our club president, Vincent Chua, shared with us some tips and tricks and gave us a short workshop on how to tackle the "feared" humorous speech - a speech given for the intent of comedy and making the audience laugh. This is in preparation for the upcoming humorous speech contest coming September 2017!

A warm welcome to fellow members and guests who joined us in our meeting in our warm comfy club on Tuesday, 3 October! There was an amazing turn out this meeting, which filled our session with vibrant stories and interesting tales. In celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival which was the next day, VPE Wen Zhong kick started our meeting sparked off with an ice breaker session, sharing about what we loved most about Mid-Autumn Festival. Most of us expressed our love and craving for the delicious delicacy – moon cakes, some of us relished in nostalgia, sharing about childhood memories of lantern and playing, and few of us indicated our lack of enthusiasm for the festival. Energetic evening (16 April 2013)

There were people from all walks of life in tonight’s chapter meeting; there were 18 people who packed into our club room, with a good mix of distinguished Toastmasters from other clubs, guests with zero experience at a Toastmasters meeting as well as our very own members (and ex-member Rick!) To start the ball rolling for tonight’s meeting, the prepared speeches were delivered by the ever-animated Pei Zhi , the affable Mike as well as Stephen , from SIM Toastmasters Club. Next, we moved on to the perennial favourite at the club: Table Topics. The Table Topics Master for tonight was Vanessa , whose questions were based on events happening in Korea. Our guests who were attending a Toastmasters meeting for the very first time (from left to right: Lee Guan, Robin, and Kai Feng (extreme right), and not forgetting Stephen , who had also participated in the prepared speech section) gamely took up the challenge to speak and they did so with great aplomb!   ...

15 Aug 2017 (Tuesday) - Dealing with Judgement

You might be wondering, what is going on with the title "Dealing with Judgement". The theme for our recent chapter meeting was on Evaluation. What is so special about evaluation? Henry Cloud mentioned "The natural response to evaluation is to feel judged. We have to mature to a place where we respond to it with gratitude, and love feedback." When we receive evaluation, or feedback, do we become defensive and ignore other's opinion? Or do we welcome them to improve ourselves? The chapter meeting was called to order at 7.15pm. Christina opened it up with an ice-breaker + table-topic spun together to get everyone comfortable. Within the first five minutes we had a variety of topics we spoke about!
