The Reason They Meet (02 May)
It was a fine Tuesday evening. This group of people could have been anywhere, but guess where they choose to be?
Let's start with the first speaker, Jeffrey.
Jeffrey shared about his passion that most boys (and men) love. It's an activity where 22 men on a field chase after a ball. And yes, if you were thinking about that, you're right.
It's soccer. He shared about why the game is so interesting and how he was hooked onto this sport.
He took on the role of a Maths teacher and shared with us how statistics could be skewed, warned us the possibilities of biases and how we can be more wary of them. He had much to share that he went slightly overtime.
(Yes, we time our speeches so that we can be prompt speakers and learn to improve from there :)
Sukhitha, the third speaker, was doing his advanced project and broke the "bad news" to us.
He was broke the news on how our "app" didn't work out the way we envisioned. He had carefully chosen his words so much so that the bad news felt like an inspirational speech. The entire crowd was inspired after his speech.
If he were to start a company, I'll be first to join him as any bad scenarios will be turned into an inspirational moment. Wouldn't that be an awesome experience and great working environment?
The next speaker is Peter Lee (apologies for the absence of photo).
He shared with us how Toastmasters was one of the ideal platforms to practice public speaking and was encouraging guests to joining us as members.
The crowd was impressed with his preparation work. His reasons weren't online research. Rather, they were his personal observations for every club meetings he had attended at various clubs around Singapore.
A chat with him and I was surprised to find out that he visited at least 2 clubs every week. No small feat indeed!
The next segment is on evaluation. This is where evaluators give feedback to the speakers, in terms of their strengths and areas for improvement.
And how could we forget the more interesting segment of Table Topics.

And so why did this group of people meet? It's so they can meet to share, grow and help one another improve! So do join us in our next meet. :)
