First Time For (Almost) Everyone (18 Mar)

That evening was marked by many first timers. Let's dive straight into the chapter meeting and see how well the first timers did.

Yung Chin (above) was Sergent At Arms (SAA) for the first time. He did a great job in facilitating the activity.

Katie, on the other hand, also a first timer for Toastmaster of Evening (also known as Emcee for the night) had done it brilliantly in introducing the respective speakers, evaluators and appointment holders. Despite being her first time, she spoke confidently and naturally.
Our President, Alvin, was not around for the evening. Vanessa, our Vice-President Education took over as acting Club President for the night. She gave an inspirational opening speech about her experience in the contest and how members should take advantage to learn from the usual chapter meetings.

Moving on to the prepared speeches, we had 3 speakers for the night. First up was Ying (below), she did her Project 2 and shared about an inspirational story on how a man with no legs in China managed to scale one of the tallest mountain in the world and inspired many Chinese citizens to lead greater life.
Rajesh (below) was the second speaker for the evening. He shared an entertaining speech on how many choices in our daily lives could be a huge problem for us. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed his speech as he brings across his points in a succinct and humourous manner. Ben, our club advisor, also nominated him as a potential candidate for humourous speech contest later this year.
Lastly, we had an external speaker, Vivek (no picture), from our sister club, Braddell Heights Advanced. He was preparing for his International Speech Contest for Division Level. His speech revolved around his pursuit for happiness, romantic happiness and how he finally got it at the end. He tickled the funny bones in the crowd and got the crowd cracking throughout his speech.

As for the highlight of the evening was Christina's Delivery Skills Training. She shared various tips and techniques on how an average speakers can boost their stage speaking presence as well as different engaging techniques. It was always an insightful session when she pointed out common mistakes made by beginners and solutions to reducing those mistakes.
For evaluations, we had Vivek, Mike and Vincent to give their pointers on how well the speakers had fared and areas of improvement for their speeches.

Vivek that evening bagged home the Best Speaker and Best Evaluator.

As usual, how can we forget our beloved Group Picture? :)
