Special Evening (16 July)
The evening's chapter meeting is special. How so? Let's take a look at what happened that made the evening special.
First phenomenon is the opening address. As both President Alvin and Vice-President Education Vanessa is not around, we had the privilege of seeing Vice-President Membership Robin's style of opening address.
Robin (above) impressed, inspired and entertained us with a rap about how we should not worry about current situation and strive for the best of our ability.
The first speaker is Fion who did her opening speech about mahjong. In fact, many had expressed awe with the fact that she managed to explain instructions, terms and rudimentary of mahjong in English.
The second speaker is Mike (below). He did his Project 6 and shared a story about a boy crying wolf. A cliche story expressed in a very entertaining way. Vocal variety was very well expressed in his speech.
The third speaker is Pei Zhi (below) sharing about "A Crazy Project". She shared about how a single project back in school can be both crazy and fulfilling at the same time.
The second special item is our mystery speaker for the evening. She is our club advisor, Christina (below), re-doing her Project 10. Her speech was a contest speech few years back and she renewed everyone's faith and believe that we can do much more with her speech, "When you believe".
Following that, we had Brahmakumar, Distinguished Toastmaster, from Nee Soon East Toastmaster Club. He had very interesting topics and everyone had a great time during his session. Below are some of the participants who attempted his topics.
From top to bottom (left to right): Gerald Ong (club advisor), Siao Yan (VPE of Toa Payoh South), Christina (club advisor), Bee Ling (Toa Payoh South member), Kelvin, Rebecca (Braddell Heights Advanced).
Next segment is feedback from our evaluators. We had Gerald to evaluate Fion's speech, Rebecca to evaluate Mike's speech, Siao Yan to evaluate Pei Zhi's speech and Jenny to evaluate Christina's speech.
Another special segment for the evening is Jenny's (below) speech. She shared with about recruitment strategies and what we can do to better help members so they can stay with the club longer. An essential talk for people interested in working for HR and entrepreneurs-to-be. She has a wealth of experience in the management level in big MNCs and in her last company, a big MNC firm, she has managed to reduce the turnover rate in her department to 0%. What an impressive feat!
Last but not least, presentation of awards to our best speaker, evaluator and table topic speaker.
Last but not least, a group photo to wrap up this special night! Be sure to join us in our next session!
