Final Dash (18 June)

The evening's chapter meeting was the final meeting that concludes the term June 2012 to 2013. I'm glad to say it  was wrapped up in a light-hearted & entertaining session. Chun Kwang kicked off as SAA. This was his first attempt at being SAA and he did a fantastic job warming up the audience by asking them how they had celebrated Father's Day. Many shared about their celebrations and some were opened to share that they did not celebrate because of various reasons. Vincent took over as Toastmaster of the Evening and set the entertaining tone for the evening. It was followed up with the  President's opening address. Alvin shared an inspiring story with us that we have a choice to focus on the beauty of everyday even if life doesn't present itself that way. Siao Yan took over at the eleventh hour as the  Language Evaluator and gave us the Word of the Day, " Gusto ". Gusto simply means enjoyment, zest, energetic. And she encouraged us to use it ...

Entertainment to the Maximum (4 June 2013)

Tonight’s meeting was packed to the brim, with only a few empty seats dotting our usual meeting venue. We had the strict but humorous Fernando Young kickstarting tonight’s meeting with the ice-breaker question that was quintessentially in Fernando’s style: What do you love or loathe most about Fernando Young? The crowd was simultaneously tickled and energized by this topic. Off to a good start, the next item on the agenda was the introduction by our club’s very own Vincent Chua. He was the Toastmaster of the Day and he explained the different segments in a typical Toastmaster Chapter Meeting and its benefits, as well as the various appointment holders and the purpose that they serve. This is followed by our Club President Alvin Yong’s opening address, where he encouraged us to listen attentively, not selectively.
