Energetic evening (16 April 2013)

There were people from all walks of life in tonight’s chapter meeting; there were 18 people who packed into our club room, with a good mix of distinguished Toastmasters from other clubs, guests with zero experience at a Toastmasters meeting as well as our very own members (and ex-member Rick!) To start the ball rolling for tonight’s meeting, the prepared speeches were delivered by the ever-animated Pei Zhi , the affable Mike as well as Stephen , from SIM Toastmasters Club. Next, we moved on to the perennial favourite at the club: Table Topics. The Table Topics Master for tonight was Vanessa , whose questions were based on events happening in Korea. Our guests who were attending a Toastmasters meeting for the very first time (from left to right: Lee Guan, Robin, and Kai Feng (extreme right), and not forgetting Stephen , who had also participated in the prepared speech section) gamely took up the challenge to speak and they did so with great aplomb!   ...

Entertaining Night (2 April)

If there was one word to sum up this evening's chapter meeting, it would be entertaining. Just take a look at our smiles later.  :) Vicky kicked off the ice-breaking session with an interesting topic, "What do you like about Singapore?".  Almost everyone had something that they genuinely like about this country. Tonight we also tried a new system. Instead of having a one-to-one evaluation like a normal chapter meeting, we had a panel evaluation from the audience. However, there were silent evaluators assigned to respective speakers to help them improve further.  Pei Zhi was the first speaker ...

Booster Crowd (19 Mar)

A small crowd need not mean it's going to be quiet night, at least this evening's chapter meeting's crowd have proved that point. Vanessa kicked off the meeting as SAA with her always interesting topic for ice-breaker. The audience responded well and was quite warmed up by the topic. This evening was also Chiew Ping's second time giving opening address to the club as President Alvin was away. She has gradually grown to become a more confident speaker in this toastmaster journey. Mike was the first speaker for the evening. He was doing Project 2, Organization structure. He shared about his personal experience about different categories of people. The second speaker is Vincent, doing AP3 from Technical Manual. He shared about his Final Year Project and how bus bunching (meaning buses of same services coming together at bus stop) affects our daily lives as well as the waiting time. The third speaker is Johnathan from Temasek Poly. He was doing an A...
