Our club held a mini Humour & Evaluation Contest last Tuesday. It was an entertaining, humourous and refreshing meeting. Unlike usual meeting with prepared speeches and evaluations, the prepared speakers were contesting in the Humour Contest and the champion would be representing our club to compete in Area A2 for the Area Contest; likewise for evaluation contest.
Here's a snapshot of the participants for respective contest.
Both humourous speakers were funny in their own way and delighted their audience during their speeches. Rick jokes were original, insightful and amusing. Vincent's style was more slap-stick and colloquial. Winner was chosen through voting and Vincent would be representing our club for the Area Contest.
For the evaluation contest, it's similar to Humour. Only difference is, we had an eloquent test speaker from Toa Payoh South Toastmaster Club.

His topic was really interesting and thought provoking, titled "The Ugly Side Of Humanity". It definitely caught most of the participants off-guard for his topic. Thankfully, they were given 5 minutes to prepare prior to the actual evaluation. So it gives some time for the participants to consolidate their thoughts and comments.

There's one more participant Rick, but he was called in for the contest before we could take a shot. Through the votes, Kelvin emerged victorious among the other evaluators and he would be representing us for the Area Contest for evaluation.
During our time away for preparation, Christina continued with Table Topics and John was voted the Best Table Topics for the evening. I'm very proud of him because he just joined toastmaster earlier this year some time in March or April and he has already progressed by leaps & bounds. Best of all, English wasn't his primary language and he's a retiree! :)

Of course, the night wouldn't have round up better without our beloved advisor, Christina sharing her thoughts and areas of improvement for respective participants and even our test speaker.

Lastly, we were very proud and lucky to have 3 Toa Payoh South toastmasters joining us that evening and a new guest joining in as new member. :)

Oh, forgot to mention that we also had a surprise visit from another advisor of our club. Another dedicated toastmaster and long time supporter of Braddell Heights! :)
