Installation Night (19 June)

This evening's meeting is the final meeting for the term (June 2011 - 2012). It was an exciting term for the members, with lots of bonding, fun and of course, learning & growing. As such, let's thank the exiting exco team for the wonderful job that they had done serving the club and ensuring all activities run smoothly so every member had a conducive & delightful learning experience.

At the same time, let's welcome our new exco team as they take over this important role from their predecessors.

And yes, spot the difference if you can! Well, since the club is small currently, many of the members volunteered their services again (for different roles this time). We're all committed toastmasters!

(Or in the toastmaster arena, we call this "phenomenon" recycling of members) 



We also added a little surprise for Carolyn during the meeting (many thanks to Gerald who prepared for the cake & suggested the idea).

Just as Carolyn was about to cut the cake, she was interrupted by Kelvin to... 



lead us in the Toastmaster Pledge (yes, we do have a pledge for Toastmaster Organisation). 



And since it's an installation night, we mustn't forget that we must toast to a new start. After all, we're toastmaster so we must learn how to "toast" well too! :)






Congratulations to the new team! I'm certain the new team will bring us to higher heights as the club progresses into the new year! 





Oh, there's one more thing I almost forgot that wrapped up our meeting sweetly. Thank you so much Ah Cheng! :)

A warm welcome to fellow members and guests who joined us in our meeting in our warm comfy club on Tuesday, 3 October! There was an amazing turn out this meeting, which filled our session with vibrant stories and interesting tales. In celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival which was the next day, VPE Wen Zhong kick started our meeting sparked off with an ice breaker session, sharing about what we loved most about Mid-Autumn Festival. Most of us expressed our love and craving for the delicious delicacy – moon cakes, some of us relished in nostalgia, sharing about childhood memories of lantern and playing, and few of us indicated our lack of enthusiasm for the festival. Energetic evening (16 April 2013)

There were people from all walks of life in tonight’s chapter meeting; there were 18 people who packed into our club room, with a good mix of distinguished Toastmasters from other clubs, guests with zero experience at a Toastmasters meeting as well as our very own members (and ex-member Rick!) To start the ball rolling for tonight’s meeting, the prepared speeches were delivered by the ever-animated Pei Zhi , the affable Mike as well as Stephen , from SIM Toastmasters Club. Next, we moved on to the perennial favourite at the club: Table Topics. The Table Topics Master for tonight was Vanessa , whose questions were based on events happening in Korea. Our guests who were attending a Toastmasters meeting for the very first time (from left to right: Lee Guan, Robin, and Kai Feng (extreme right), and not forgetting Stephen , who had also participated in the prepared speech section) gamely took up the challenge to speak and they did so with great aplomb!   ...

15 Aug 2017 (Tuesday) - Dealing with Judgement

You might be wondering, what is going on with the title "Dealing with Judgement". The theme for our recent chapter meeting was on Evaluation. What is so special about evaluation? Henry Cloud mentioned "The natural response to evaluation is to feel judged. We have to mature to a place where we respond to it with gratitude, and love feedback." When we receive evaluation, or feedback, do we become defensive and ignore other's opinion? Or do we welcome them to improve ourselves? The chapter meeting was called to order at 7.15pm. Christina opened it up with an ice-breaker + table-topic spun together to get everyone comfortable. Within the first five minutes we had a variety of topics we spoke about!
