You might be wondering, what is going on with the title "Dealing with Judgement". The theme for our recent chapter meeting was on Evaluation. What is so special about evaluation? Henry Cloud mentioned "The natural response to evaluation is to feel judged. We have to mature to a place where we respond to it with gratitude, and love feedback." When we receive evaluation, or feedback, do we become defensive and ignore other's opinion? Or do we welcome them to improve ourselves? The chapter meeting was called to order at 7.15pm. Christina opened it up with an ice-breaker + table-topic spun together to get everyone comfortable. Within the first five minutes we had a variety of topics we spoke about! After which, our Club President, Vincent Chua, proceeded on with his opening address. The full team in action! 01 August 2017 (Tuesday) - Braddell Heights TMC I Chapter Meeting We had four lovely three speakers last Tuesday - Andy, Dominic, Wai Kay as well as Peter Lee, CC. The first speaker, Andy, shared about his negative obsession with jogging and the effects of too much exercise. Dominic spoke and gave us a short rant about a series of unfortunate events that happened to him last Saturday but after attending another Toastmasters Meeting, the lively and energetic atmosphere left him relived and charged. Towards a more light-hearted topic, Wai Kay, through the usage of visual aids, brought us onto an amazing journey through different tourist attractions! Last, but not least, Peter Lee, CC, gave us a hilarious and humorous speech which left us with smiles on our faces! Following the prepared speeches, we had a short refreshment break and an evaluation session afterwards by the evaluators - Christina; Huiling; Jordan Li, as well as our President, Vincent where they gave wonderf...

The evening's meeting was a cozy one. We had 3 wonderful speakers who shared different aspects of their lives with us. Andy (above), a young and uprising star, shared about his superhero fantasy. Wai Kay (above), shared about his interesting experience of his past and present experiences with technology in his household. Jordan (above), shared his personal encounter of overseas voluntary work and inspired us to spread our love and responsibilities overseas.  We also had 3 wonderful evaluators (below) who shared on the strengths and areas of improvements for the speakers.  Xiao Yan (left), Rajesh (right) and myself (no picture) We also put aside time for others to practice on table topics (aka impromptu speaking).  Last but not least, a group picture to wrap up the night. :) 

It was a fine Tuesday evening. This group of people could have been anywhere, but guess where they choose to be? Let's start with the first speaker, Jeffrey. Jeffrey shared about his passion that most boys (and men) love. It's an activity where 22 men on a field chase after a ball. And yes, if you were thinking about that, you're right. It's soccer. He shared about why the game is so interesting and how he was hooked onto this sport. The second speaker, Wen Zhong, did a presentation on "Recognising Misleading Graphs & Statistics".  He took on the role of a Maths teacher and shared with us how statistics could be skewed, warned us the possibilities of biases and how we can be more wary of them. He had much to share that he went slightly overtime. Braddell Heights 1 Toastmasters' Chapter Meeting on 03 May 2016 has marked  an overwhelming participation from its Members & Guests!! The meeting was vibrant & participative..  We had 4 segments in the meeting -  1.) Prepared Speech, 2.) Project Evaluation  3.) Table Topics, and   4.) General Evaluation PREPARED SPEAKERS: Prepared Speakers had put in lot of efforts to prepare & deliver one of their finest & passionate speeches. PROJECT EVALUATORS: Project Evaluators gave their valuable inputs & insights to the Speakers to work on their strengths and to improve on their gaps. TABLE TOPICS: The most exciting part of any Toastmasters meeting would be the Table Topics (impromptu speech about the topic given on the spot).
