Braddell Heights Toastmaster Club 1

This evening's meeting marked the beginning of a new term. As such, the chapter meeting will be slightly different from the usual routine. There was also a good turnout of guests and external toastmasters to join us for this special event. Vincent kicked off the session with an ice-breaking activity. Everyone was supposed to share their name, a short description about themselves and how was their day. The time was then handed over to Vanessa (below), who was the Toastmaster of the Evening.    Prior to the evening's program, Alvin (below), our club President, gave us his opening address. Rajesh, a new member who joined us last meeting, gave his first maiden speech. Not only was he confident, but he was also well prepared for it. He put in the time and effort and practiced 10 times a day for 3 days. He had certainly raised the bar of preparation in our club! The evening's chapter meeting was the final meeting that concludes the term June 2012 to 2013. I'm glad to say it  was wrapped up in a light-hearted & entertaining session. Chun Kwang kicked off as SAA. This was his first attempt at being SAA and he did a fantastic job warming up the audience by asking them how they had celebrated Father's Day. Many shared about their celebrations and some were opened to share that they did not celebrate because of various reasons. Vincent took over as Toastmaster of the Evening and set the entertaining tone for the evening. It was followed up with the  President's opening address. Alvin shared an inspiring story with us that we have a choice to focus on the beauty of everyday even if life doesn't present itself that way. Siao Yan took over at the eleventh hour as the  Language Evaluator and gave us the Word of the Day, " Gusto ". Gusto simply means enjoyment, zest, energetic. And she encouraged us to use it ...
